“Building bridges of communication through music, art, science, and the humanities.”
An evening length musical exploration, Not in Kansas Anymore: showcases the creative energies of percussionists Matt Wilson and Dan Moore.
Firm believers that everyone is a composer, Wilson and Moore are master improvisers known for their ability to create compelling interactive musical masterpieces inspired by anything from great works of art to everyday objects like kitchen cabinets or juice machines. They create fully limned and compelling themes from videos of medical procedures or mathematical equations.
They are consummate musicians dedicated to building community and unlocking the creative potential in all of us.
Wilson has been hailed the “near-ubiquitous jazz drummer of the last decade,” and reviewers have described Moore as an “Omni-percussionist” who is “clearly a gifted improviser.” Wilson and Moore first performed together more than thirty years ago as students at The Wichita State University of Kansas. They continue to record and play together and with this unique duo project it is clear that the two are definitely not in Kansas anymore.
Bring them to your school or into your community and watch as they build bridges of communication through music, art, science, and the humanities.
Join them for an evening of sonic surprises and perhaps a trip to OZ and back.
By hosting a Not in Kansas Anymore event you can engage a variety of community participants to create musical “scores” that the duo will perform. Presenters will receive instructions on how to prepare and format scores for the performance. Bring the duo in for 1-3 days to work with students and have them involved in the performance as well!
If you are looking for a low stress – high impact community event, this is it!
Matt and Dan can also present clinics on a variety of topics including presentations for all music and arts students. Of course they can cover a range of percussion topics as well. It’s a win – win for everyone involved.
